About the Artist
About
Lying midway between the Great Smokey Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean is my home in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is there along with my husband and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that I live my passion. My passion is painting in my studio with French doors wide open looking out over our acre pond. Through it I am able to express my love for art, gardening, traveling, antiques and decor. Whether by arranging unusual flowers which I have nurtured from seed, selecting unique antique pieces for a still life set up or studying my travel photos, I am looking for my next painting. Poet and Monk Thomas Merton said it best for me: “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”
For me lost in a painting is a wonderful place to be. As I go through my days, if I’m not painting with a brush, I am painting in my mind.
I began painting in watercolor, loving the beautiful translucency and bursting and mingling of the pigments. Although I love both mediums, I am today focusing on painting with oils, having fun making loose brush strokes and enjoying the buttery look and feel of the paint. For many years I have followed my muse and traveled and studied under many nationally and internationally renowned artists. I chose ones who could best teach me the techniques and aspects I wanted to learn at the time, artists who could help me develop the skills to paint beautiful works to create and share. Seeking to attain higher levels in my work has been both challenging and frustrating at times, but I have savored the journey. Making worldwide artist friends along the way has enriched my life beyond measure.
And so I am gifted with the ability to share this passion with you. Thank you for viewing my art.
